Mi tatarabuelo (padre de mi bisabuelo), Luke Haughey, era un soldado quien luchó bajo Custer en la guerra civil y después en el 7º Regimiento de Caballería de Estados Unidos. Su alistamiento terminó dos semanas antes de la batalla del pequeño cuerno grande. Por suerte, su cadáver no acabó espantosamente mutilado en las grandes llanuras, como el cadáver de Custer.
