La Tarea para Carmen 8 abril

Nunca he leído un libro por Patricia Highsmith. Después de leer este artículo sobre el autor y sus libros, no estoy inclinada a buscar los libros. Sus historias parecen desagradables con un personaje central que es psicópata. Prefiero los libros con un protagonista un tanto simpático.

Por casualidad durante el fin de semana pasado, me pasó a dos artículos que se vinculan en este artículo sobre Highsmith. En la Reseña del periódico NY Times la critica de ficción del crimen escribe sobre un libro "Me Quieres" y menciona que el autor (Caroline Kepnes) ha creado un carácter que recuerda a Tom Ripley, el carácter famosamente amoral de Highsmith.

El segundo artículo era una pieza en The New Yorker sobre una biografía nueva de Graham Greene. El autor, Greene, citó en el artículo por clase, resume ese universo literario que los historias de Highsmith y sus propios ocupan. Los libros de Greene están llena de sexo, religión, asesinato, y otras actividades sórdidas.

Como los libros de Highsmith, estos son poco atractivas para mi.

Aunque no podemos saber como son los autores de sus libros, parece que ambos autores fueron personas difíciles y antipáticas, con opiniones impopulares. Sin embargo, produjeron obras que continúan popular hoy.
