Event Description

Are you looking for a fun and engaging way to enhance your knowledge of the Spanish language? Do you want to emerge yourself in Spanish culture and history while doing so? If this sounds like you be sure to check out our Spanish Book Club!

For our upcoming Book Club we will be reading “El lector de Julio Verne” by Almudena Grandes. Follow nine-year-old Nino, son of a military cop through this coming of age story. The story takes place in the Provence of Jaén during 1947 under the reign of general Francisco Franco. In a village that is so poor even books are hard to get, join Nino as he discovers the fascinating literary world of Julio Verne while also becoming aware of the harsh reality around him.

The first session of Spanish Book Club will be held in the Fillmore office from on Friday, October 19th, from 5:30-7 pm. Discussion will then continue on Friday, October 26th, from 5:30-7 pm. Carmen will lead the workshop.
