La ruta de carretera 7 es sobrecogedor, con algunos tramos por transbordadores. Parece una región infranqueable. El dictador Pinochet no solamente mató muchas personas, pero también era responsable para construir la carretera austral. Por supuesto, Pinochet utilizó a los militares para construir la carretera. Era cautivante que muchas personas el la región fueran inmigrantes de Alemania después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Escuché con interés los problemas con contaminación de la industria salmonera. Parece que los problemas son similares al sobrepastoreo en la tierra. Demasiados peces en un área hacen que se agote el oxígeno de este área del océano. Además, existen otros problemas con el alimento que se le da al salmón y la gran cantidad de materia fecal que cae al lecho marino.

Habría sido mucho más fácil para Chile depender de las carreteras de Argentina. En el mapa, es fácil ver que Argentina es mucho más amplia y plana acercándose a la Patagonia. Si yo fuera Pinochet, habría negociado un tratado con Argentina. Debe haber algún historial de conflicto entre los dos países.
