No lo sabia que el nombre de México era tan político- nunca he pensado en la pronunciación, y de hecho nunca lo he visto escrito con una “j.” Pero me interesa mucho saber de donde viene el nombre, y que viene de la lengua de Nahuatl. Me gustaría mucho oír el Nahuatl hablado en vivo. Me imagino que lo hubiera oído cuando estuve en México por tres meses durante la universidad, pero no lo me acuerdo, probablemente porque no lo reconocí. El nombre de mi pueblo de nacimiento también viene de la aboriginal cultura local. Se llama “Manitowoc,” una palabra del idioma Anishinabe, que quiere decir “hogar del gran espíritu.”  En Wisconsin hay varios lugares con “manitou” (fuerza de vida o espíritu) como parte de sus nombres, y también esta palabra es el raíz de "Manitoba," la provincia de Canada.
