Pío Baroja's book about life in Madrid's underworld
In May, the Spanish Book Club will talk about the classic 1922 novel La Busca (in English called The Search or The Quest). Pío Baroja's La Busca follows an immigrant Manuel and the people he meets in his struggles to survive within one of the humblest neighborhoods in Madrid. Baroja writes on subjects related to the aftermath of the Spanish-American War, including issues involving immigration that are relevant in today's world.
Sign up and start reading today. The first session of Spanish Book Club will be held in the Fillmore office from on Friday, May 18th, from 5:30-7 pm. Discussion will then continue on Friday, May 25th, from 5:30-7 pm. Carmen will lead the workshop. We look forward to getting into conversation about this work!
