Para las vacaciones del pasado fin de semana, maneje’ hacia el sur, pasando Bakersfield hasta un pueblito que se llama Tehachapi donde había un festival de música Western swing. Esta música fue popular en los años mil novecientos trentas y cuarentas y se originó en Texas. La música fue revivida y hay bandas de swing en todo el país que se especializan en Western swing.

Muchos aficionados de Western swing que asistieron al festival, incluyéndome a mi llevaba ropa autentica vintage de la mil novecientos cincuentas. Mujeres y hombres tenían peinados de hace décadas. Parte de la ropa fue inspirada por vaqueros y vaqueras o a veces de las Américas nativas o mexicanos.

La bandas jugaron al aire libre en una sala de veteranos que parecía que estaba congelado en el tiempo.

Esta música era divertido para bailar y había alguno excelente bailarines, por lo general, instructores de baile profesional que eran muy interesantes para ver.

Había una pista de tren activo junto a la sede y los trenes comerciales en movimiento por añadido al ambiente del evento.
