La semana pasada, escuché una entrevista con Arlie Hothschild, quien es socióloga y escritora del libro Strangers in their own land (Extranjeros en su propia tierra). Pasé 5 años en el estado de Louisiana en medio de gente ultra-conservadora blanca. Quiero que mis amigos escuchen esta entrevista, porque no creo que utilicemos métodos correctos para abordar a los derechistas. Por ejemplo, la Dra Hothschild dice que se sentían como si esperaran en una larga fila. Al final de la fila hay el sueño americano que les haya prometido el país. Les da rabia que a los “demás” les dejen meterse en la fila y a ustedes no. Como son sus sentimientos y no la lógica, recomiendo que las progresistas comiencen con un reconocimiento desde del punto de vista emocional antes de mencionar datos o argumentos lógicos.
