Como siempre con los artículos de tarea en la clase de Carmen, me interesa la descripción de los materiales de fondo que usa el autor a ilustrar el tema. En este caso en lugar de “desempolvar el diccionario” los lingüistas diseñaron un estudio que resultó en la teoría que incluye solo cincuenta palabras.  Me decepcionó saber, más adelante en el artículo, que no dijeron que tan pocas palabras eran suficientes para sobrevivir en un idioma extranjero.   

Ni modo descubrieron, y yo descubrí sin estudio, es casi imposible para estudiante de idiomas de aprender una cantidad de palabras como un hablante nativo sin muchos años de estudiar.  

Por otra parte, si quiero aprender el idioma, español en este caso, para sobrevivir en un entorno cotidiano, es posible que 800 de las palabras más útiles pueden ser suficientes. Es una buena noticia escuchar. Entonces el próximo objetivo mío es aprender las 3.000 palabras necesarios para comprender las noticias en televisión con Jorge Ramos.
