Atrapados por 18 días por un derrumbe, los 33 mineros enviaron un mensaje a la superficie a través de una sonda que logró alcanzar a su refugio de emergencia a 688 metros de profundidad. El mensaje decía que ellos estaban bien y produjo un estallido de júbilo en todo país.
