Muchos de los mejores chefs en San Francisco como Alice Waters han aprendido las artes culinarias en Francia y por eso, quizá haya un razonamiento porque el chef Guy Savoy y el presidente Nicolás Sarkozy creen que la cocina francesa merece ser reconocida patrimonio de la humanidad. ¿En cambio, cómo pueden explicar ellos el hecho que la cocina china ha contribuido mucho a las cocinas del mundo y tal vez a más personas en la mitad este del mundo que Francia ha contribuido a la humanidad de la mitad oeste del mundo? Por supuesto, hay muchos otros países que pueden hacer una reclamación a contribuciones culinarias muy importantes también.
