He conocido este símbolo en cinco de sus acepciones.

De niñita lo usé para jugar a uno de mis juegos favoritos, tatetí.

En las clases primarias, aprendí que la almohadilla significaba peso en libras

En la secundaria, empecé a usarlo como un atajo por la palabra, número.

Cuando estuve en la universidad, compré mi primer teléfono de botón con 12 botones y por supuesto, había uno con el símbolo, # que llamamos la llave de la libra. No recuerdo bien para qué utilizamos ese botón, pero creo que fue para dejar mensajes en un contestador.

Es interesante que este símbolo sencillo con solo 4 líneas que hoy día hemos apodado "almohadilla" y usamos para enviar mensajes por Twitter haya tenido una vida tan larga y diversa.
