Este artículo trajo muchos recuerdos. Como Boy Scout y marinero, necesitaba aprender cómo atar muchos nudos. Mi projecto comunitario para obtener el rango de águila exploradora fue enseñar nudo a las chicas exploradoras. He olvidado algunos por falta de práctica. Me gustaría revisar los nudos si tuviera tiempo.

Si quieres navegar en un velero, debes aprender a atar algunos nudos básicos. Si no sabes como atar nudo de yate, el capitán podría enseñarte.

El artículo hablaba sobre el uso de nudos para medir la distancia o la velocidad en un bote. Me preguntaba qué distancia tendrían que estar los nudos. Un nudo es aproximadamente 1.15 millas por hora, que es 1.5 pies por segundo. Por lo tanto, uno podría medir una velocidad de 5 nudos en diez segundos con aproximadamente un nudo cada 75 pies.

El nudo que uso para mis corbatas se llama el oriental, o nudo simple. Aprendí hace muchos años no solamente porque fuera más fácil atar, pero porque podría obtener un nudo menos grueso. El nudo estaría menos grueso porque hay menos vueltas del corbata para hacer el nudo.
